Two Random quick hits

From an email between Darci and Mom about crazyness..."I am surprised that the Evans crazy gene that is so obvious in you and somehow totally missed Terry and doubled down in Katie."

Matt adds to the crazy by emailing me suggested names for Baby Lily..."Elmer or Bufordella. All other names are horseshit."

Ryan's Budget

From the Washington Examiner:

WH: Ryan 'aggressively and deliberately ignorant'
byJoel Gehrke Commentary Staff

Secretary Jay Carney didn't pull any punches in his attack on Paul Ryan's budget, as he declared that supporters of the budget -- and by extension, Ryan himself -- are "aggressively and deliberately ignorant" about the need for green energy and other programs slated for cuts.

"You have to be aggressively and deliberately ignorant of the world economy not to know and understand that clean energy technologies are going to play a huge role in the 21st century," Carney said after decrying the clean energy spending cuts in Ryan's plan. "You have to have severely diminished capacity to understand what drives economic growth in industrialized countries in this century if you do not understand that education is the key that unlocks the door to prosperity," he added.

Carney concluded that "the budget proposed by Chairman Ryan and supported overwhelmingly already by Republicans suggests that those problems" -- aggressive ignorance and diminished comprehension -- "exist in the minds of the supporters of that plan."

Your Boy Ryan

Well, Terry, what do you think of your boy Ryan today? God bless him! The guy is genius. When you introduced me to him several years ago, you called him your "man crush." He is the kind of guy who gives me hope for the future, and he gives me hope that there are politicians who work hard, mean what they say, and have courage. He is the real deal. He and Scott Walker are putting Wisconsin on the conservative map big time. The only thing I can fault Paul Ryan for is that he doesn't eat sweets. Come on! Is that even possible?

What the F????

Apparently DishNetwork and the local CBS channel are in some sort of billing dispute so the game is blacked out and I am reduced to watching play by play online. It is that or pay 3.99 to watch it live. WHAT THE HELL.

Update: They must have resolved something, I got CBS back just in time to see ISU down about 11with 12min or so to go in the 2nd half.

Update 2: Down 20 with 7 to go, I'm considering switching to the WI High School Championship. This is out of hand, Went to down 24 while I typed.

Iowa State Wins

Watched the entire game, great win by IA state. Two observations...

1. For the second time his his career Fred has made IA State relevant.

2. I loathe Bill Raftery.

Bring on Kentucky, March 17th at 6:45. Also Iowa plays Oregon and UNI plays Drexel March 18th in the NIT if anyone cares

Triumph

First bike ride.  About a half hour.  Went well, but should your quads be audibly swearing at you in Swahili afterwards?

Tourney Time

Who do you have winning? Do you care? Iowa State plays tonight at 8ish. Wisconsin (man I hope they get killed) plays at 2ish. Me, I got Missouri.

Obama picked North Carolina if anyone cared....

Strategy

Interesting Brett Baer interview with Newt on Fox tonight. It was obvious from what Newt said that he is staying in to block Romney from winning. Then Campaign Carl came on to confirm that from what he had heard as he spent the evening watching this evening's returns with Gingrich. For Newt, it's personal. Actually, it's a pretty interesting strategy. All Newt has to do is get out and throw his support to Santorum and voila. Check and mate. If he can't win, he is going to do all he can to make sure that Romney doesn't either. Probably you all saw that long ago, but even if I had thought about it from that angle (which I admit, I hadn't), tonight he was quite clear about what his intentions are. Romney didn't even speak tonight. He had not scheduled any rally or gathering or speech. Not an interview. Not a peep. Think of all the money that man has spent and yet he can't seal the deal. And once again, I am saying that no matter who wins the nomination, Obama is history. There are going to be so many "closet" votes for him it will be unreal. The dems have their base, the republicans have their base, the independents swing one way and then the other, and then there are the silent ones who won't commit but who will go in that booth and vote against Obama. Legions of them.

Game Changer?

I'll say it here first. I think it's time for Newt to get out. In fact, I'm going to be disappointed if he doesn't. Let's see what happens to Romney when he's one on one with Santorum. What say you?

Evans Coat of Arms

Jack's homework assignment over Spring break is to create a coat of arms.  I know what the Montgomery coat of arms looks like, but I thought we should investigate the Evans side too.  Ya'll have a nice coat of arms and the family motto seemed quite apropos.

For reference, this is the Montgomery coat of arms.
The Montgomery motto is Garde Bien, which seems to work nicely with Libertas and yes that is a severed head she's holding on top of the helmet.  Keep that in mind. ;)

No, THIS is the video I love...

Need a Van

So Darci and I are shopping for a van and letting go of the Sonata. Matt, any recommendations? I hear the Honda Odyssey, Kia Sedona, Town and Country, and the Toyota Sienna are the ways to go. Your thoughts? We are looking to spend 25-30 or so.

Darci loves these, so she wants the Toyota. It is like they made these just for her.

I bought a bicycle

It arrives next week.  It is a Giant Escape City.  That is all.
