Monday Night Debate

It looks like there's another debate Monday night from what I can tell. NBC at 9:00 p.m. Brian Williams moderating. One hour only. I'll be watching and ready to comment in real time.

83 comments:

  1. Is that 9 our time or 8 central. If 9 I will watch live as well, if 8 I will be starting at 830 as usual.

  2. liar, liar pants on fire. It started at 8p

  3. Sorry about the mix up on the time. Our local tv schedule and the guide on dish network showed 9 central. So I missed the first 5 minutes.

It's 8:33. I'm going to go ahead and start. Might be talking to myself, but you guys can read and comment whenever.

I'll say from the start that I'm not a Brian Williams fan.

  5. I am watching live....so very tired, most of this may be gibberish. You will see some fireworks between Romney/Gingrich in about 10 minutes...fought to a draw.

  7. Mitt has a ridiculous look on his face as he watches Newt explain his charges against him. Doesn't play well, and that's not just because I'm for Newt. He looks like doof.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Yeah, the Ken doll is melting...he is coming off worse and worse as these go on

    ReplyDelete
  9. Why so tired, Terry? Go to bed.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I really believe Paul. I don't think he'll run 3rd party.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Agreed, no 3rd party...he is going to fight the good fight and bow out. It is the dems keeping him over 10 percent to keep him in it

    ReplyDelete
  12. Hey! A tacit endorsement for Gingrich from Paul! Seriously, that was no small comment and Newt seized it masterfully - we can work together.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Ooooooooh, so close to the mud slinging....can't wait to see what you have to say about it.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Mitt suffers from "good guy" syndrome. He's not good at attacks and just to "ah shucks" to inspire. Santorum is more impressive than Romney, but it pains me to say this - too socially conservative for most.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Much like Santorum's teeth gritting (thanks Kate, I cannot stop seeing it) Mitt's posture is getting worse as he slumps more in the polls. He is hunching over more and more and getting tense.

    ReplyDelete
  16. No one will EVER go there, but I wonder if anyone ever asked JFK about his wealth. Seriously. JFK was worth a billion by today's standards. I want to call a democrat right now and remind them of that. And JFK didn't earn a damn dime of it. He inherited it.

    ReplyDelete
  17. YES! I noticed the hunching too! Good call. Not sure I could have put my finger on it, but you got it. He looks tired or something. He's not good at being behind.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Good Paul showed up earlier (a nice chat with Newt about the Fed that was interesting). Crazy Paul is here now with Iran...

    ReplyDelete
  19. When did you start watching? I started at 8:33. Am I way behind. I'm just at the Freddie Mac for Newt.

    ReplyDelete
  20. This is an odd debate compare to the others...no real applause or cheering. It is like NBC handed out valium to everyone before hand.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I started when you woke me up, been watching since. Missed the first 20 minutes

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ok, I think I'm at the mudslinging.

    ReplyDelete
  23. fight fight fight fight...tell me who you think wins

    ReplyDelete
  24. Good point. No crowd response. You know NBC set it up that way.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Santorum's on the Iran war speechifying....same old same old

    ReplyDelete
  26. Well. That was interesting. I am prejudiced, but I feel that Romney fires sound bites and then when Newt gets a chance to explain, he does a good job and makes good sense with a rational explanation. However, Mitt got the last word. I also don't know enough to know if Mitt's arguments will hold water. Newt explained, but I'm not sure he put him away. Williams just let them have at it. Kind of ugly really.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ugly, but I agree...sided with Newt but no winners. Romney looked petty but Newt was getting frustrated

    ReplyDelete
  28. Wow Romney is looking poor, can't wait until you get to the Dream Act question where he chimes in with Newt. Also his immigration answer is dumb

    ReplyDelete
  29. Both Romney and Gingrich are good on the economy. The real reason for the attacks is just to one up each other. Too bad. Either one would do well with the economy.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Exactly. You are good at analysis. Petty vs. frustrated.

    ReplyDelete
  31. No clapping, no applause, no cheering...this is a dull, dull debate

    ReplyDelete
  32. Sugar subsidy question, ouch...this is a rancid debate

    ReplyDelete
  33. Everybody punts on the Florida specific questions, pivots to their wheelhouse national talking point. Dumb debate NBC, dumb

    ReplyDelete
  34. Good answer on the English question by Newt.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yup, I like the English as a National language...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yea, I so miss the crowd. We need the PEOPLE to weigh in. They are trying to take out the "Newt" factor. I'm just at the Dream Act.

    ReplyDelete
  37. HA! Wait for Mitt's "ME TOO" chime in

    ReplyDelete
  38. Some in the crowd laughed at Romney's "self-deportation." I agree. Ridiculous. Is that guy naive? Yea. The drug runners will "self deport." He's dumb on this issue.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Now Santorum's answer. Duh. The economy is weak so they're "self-deporting." Does that mean that when we elect any of you guys and the economy improves we'll have another big wave of illegals? Really? Yea, I am getting SO SICK of Mitt's "me too"s.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Newt spoke the truth on trying to go up against the agricultural lobby. It's a crime and a scam. Mitt had a big "gotta get my talking point in" moment. That's getting old, too.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Aside from the mud slinging, this debate is a snoozer

    ReplyDelete
  42. Rick gets a hand on a very sincere answer.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I agree. A snoozer. Haven't learned anything. I doubt this changed minds. Status quo.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Newt has a very conservative answer on NASA - enlist the private sector, cut down on the NASA bureaucracy. Romney did not.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yup, a stalemate....and like chess just as boring....NBC ran a debate I could have slept through....No debate wrap up, except to say, how many "uhs" and "ums" did you hear all night? Compare that to Obama...

    ReplyDelete
  46. Again, Romney has sound bites. Gingrich has clear explanation and a plan for a myriad of issues.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yeah, I liked the comparison to Lindburg only flying over the ocean because of the prize

    ReplyDelete
  48. I didn't start taping it until 9:00 and just started watching. Guess I missed the whole first hour. Damn it.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yeah they are wrapping up. Im out, love you Ma

    ReplyDelete
  50. You didn't miss much, Katie. Both Dish and my tv guide from the Sunday paper had the times wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  51. No one is going back to Mexico for goodness sakes. And the Mexicans aren't just stealing a bunch of SSN #'s. Santorum - you're heritage is NOT MEXICAN.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yes, silencing the crowd was the biggest mistake of this debate.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Should I stop commenting? Mom are you there?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Should I stop commenting? Mom are you there?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Love Gingrich's answer to a dumb question - what scares you about the presidency. He gave a great answer, an inspiring one. Romney is just a sound bite machine and he goes down a list. Blah!!!!! He got the last word and he did not cease the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I think I have finally decided that my impression of Santorum is he has a very small frame of reference. I am suprised they are talking about Terry Shivo case. WoW!

    ReplyDelete
  57. It happened in Florida. I don't agree about Santorum.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I know it did but I'm just suprised it came up.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Keep commenting, Katie. I'm with you.

    ReplyDelete
  60. The biggest blurb of this debate is going to be "self-deportation."

    ReplyDelete
  61. Has there ever been so many debates?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Not that I recall. And if this race stays tight, every state will want their own debate.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Fred Thompson just announced on Hannity (I'm watching my taped version while you finish the debate) that he is endorsing Newt Gingrich.

    ReplyDelete
  64. WOW! NEWT's answer vs. Romeny about conservative values... Newt takes it hands down.

    ReplyDelete
  65. WOW! NEWT's answer vs. Romeny about conservative values... Newt takes it hands down.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I agree. When Newt articulates conservative values, he does great. Mitt seems to only have sound bites. Mitt just does not inspire.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Paul has some good points on his conservative talk.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Sorry. I fast forwarded through Paul.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Romney defends himself by saying, "I have a record." Instead I want him to get MAD and say, THIS IS what I believe ......

    ReplyDelete
  70. He almost needs to throw they question back at them like Newt would do. That's it, Romney is constantly on the defense and Newt is on the offense.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Ok, it's over. That was lame. LAME NBC, LAME. Bring back Brokaw if you want to host a debate again.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Ok, it's over. That was lame. LAME NBC, LAME. Bring back Brokaw if you want to host a debate again.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Good point. "I have a record..." is practical. "I believe..." is passionate.

    ReplyDelete
  74. YES MOM! Get passionate. Plus Republicans need someone who can debate Obama and the BS media that host those debates and toss Obama softballs.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Terry and I agree. You didn't miss much in the first hour, either. Nighty Night.
