Debate Tonight

Debate tonight on CNN at 7pm. I will be watching again at 8:30pm. The comment section is fixed so we can chat here again (Katie, you gotta be there. Your comments are killer). Perry is out, down to four. Newt's ex unloads on him. Santorum wins Iowa? Should be good.

  1. FYI - the comment section problem is still being fixed. But we can still comment as before, just in the pop up window. Refreshing w/f5 still works and we can comment away starting at 830.

  2. Great. I forgot about the refreshing with f5. Good reminder. MiM, stop cooking long enough to play along. Gonna be a good one!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Minus 5 degrees outside. Just started a fire. Set the DVR to tape the debate. Noah cleaned up and earned Lego Star Wars time before bed. Ready for an 830 start.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Watching Fox. Getting wind of a rousing start to the debate. Can't wait!

    ReplyDelete
  5. I forgot about James Earl Jones and "This is CNN..."

    ReplyDelete
  6. Four left...Much better than the talking points debates with 9 candidates

    ReplyDelete
  7. Gingrich is HUGE!!!! Biggest cheer for Santorum

    ReplyDelete
  8. National anthem by the cadets kicked butt

    ReplyDelete
  9. Santorum thanks Iowa...Winner. Everybody talking about wives and marriage lengths. Subtle

    ReplyDelete
  10. Another standing O for Newt. He just spanked the hell out of CNN and the "elite media." This is a sound bite for the rest of the campaign.

    ReplyDelete
  11. First question, nice rebuttle Newt

    ReplyDelete
  12. Santorum could have done a better job of defending Newt. Romney's reply was spot on. Let's get on with the debate. Great job Newt.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Newt is fired up...a flight out denial...interesting

    ReplyDelete
  14. Not listening to Paul. Waiting for him to get done. Blah, blah, blah.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Santorum with the none defense defense of Newt

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yup, good answer by Mitt...get on to the real issues

    ReplyDelete
  17. Newt does a great job of taking a national issue and then transitioning that to a South Carolina issue. Masterful.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Agreed on Paul, blah, blah, blah

    ReplyDelete
  19. Agreed on Mitt, goes SC to Louisiana, focused on the south

    ReplyDelete
  20. Mitt doing a great job of focusing on Obama, and he's trying hard not to get specific on Bain. Probably a good strategy. The Bain thing is starting to get old. I hope we can move on from that.

    ReplyDelete
  21. You mean Newt. Mitt is sounding strong tonight. Still don't want him to win.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yup, Mitt did a good focus on Obama

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh Rick, don't talk about Iowa. "Economic squalor." Good phrase. He's trying to be the populist, middle class guy. Might work with some, but I don't think it has legs.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Stage looks small with only 4 candidates...Mitt with the Adam Smith name drop

    ReplyDelete
  25. I can't believe there are that many vets for Paul. That's sad given his foreign policy stance.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Who the hell is going to be against vets? I guess it's good of Sc, but move on.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Boring so far except for the beginning.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I cannot wait for Paul to get out.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I am watching my fire roar more than the debate so far

    ReplyDelete
  30. Wonder who Santorum will endorse when he gets out. He did get hosed on the Iowa deal.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Mitt has been pushing the power of the state thing lately

    ReplyDelete
  32. Good question, who will Rick (only one of those now) endorse....

    ReplyDelete
  33. Tennessee citizen gets the first question in the SC debate

    ReplyDelete
  34. Good line from Mitt on Amtrak and the post office about Obamacare.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Santorum is like a really smart 7th grader and you're a senior. And even though he is as smart as you, he's still a brat.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Roberts defending Obamacare in the question...sad

    ReplyDelete
  37. If Ron Paul looked like Rick Santorum he'd be doing a lot better.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hi Kate...your hatered of Santorum is funny. He is the kid brother of Mitt and Newt

    ReplyDelete
  39. Great line from Mitt about the 26 year old. Love it.

    ReplyDelete
  40. You mean Newt, and yes...good point

    ReplyDelete
  41. BTW - I'm only an hour and ten minutes in.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Welcome idiot savant. You're right on about Santorum.Newt can just sit back and let Santorum do his dirty work on Mitt. Go Ricky.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Good for you Rick...Romoneycare needs to be hammered

    ReplyDelete
  44. Your way ahead of us Kate. We started at 8:30. How did you like Gingrich's opening kick butt of John King?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Agreed on Rick. He kicked Mitt's butt on that and Mitt's answer got him in the weeds. Finally hitting Mitt's weakness. Obama will kill him on that.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Mitt is deep in the weeds...Romneycare will sink him. Better now than later

    ReplyDelete
  47. Newt is sitting back and watching Rick go after Mitt. He has time for an in and out burger and a nap.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Mitt ends with Thank you again....doesn't know how to end so he just says Thank you

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yup, Newt can have a cigar. Rick is kicking Mitt in the shin

    ReplyDelete
  50. Yeah, Santorum was Mr. Nice Guy and now he's playing tough guy and he just seems like a big BRAT.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Colombo, Rick is Colombo, not Dirty Harry

    ReplyDelete
  52. Once again we were thinking the same thing about Mitt's answer. Rick's getting schooled by Mitt and Newt.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I thought the same thing about Mitt's "thank you." First rule of speech class - never end a speech like that. Or a debate answer.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Rick is getting owned now after a good start to the question

    ReplyDelete
  55. I'm on the illegal alien question. I'm going to go crazy on this. I'm way to moderate for this crap!

    ReplyDelete
  56. SHUT UP PAUL....Man does he need to get out

    ReplyDelete
  57. OMG. Paul takes a perfectly good obamacare answer and turns in to military spending overseas. He's a dumbass.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yeah, Paul says he is going to do this and that....how long has he been in Congress? How much has he accomplished? Who stands with him on these issues? No one, but magically when he is President he can do it. Right.....

    ReplyDelete
  59. OMG again. Even at the break there's news. King is now going to pit Santorum against Newt and Gingrich releases his tax returns online during the debate. I LOVE THAT! Take that Mitt! LO!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Poor Rick. You gotta feel for him.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Rick is right on Newt, I do worry what he will say and do next...

    ReplyDelete
  62. He actually had a good answer.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Maybe you guys are behind me. Have you had the illegal immigrant question.

And there DOES NEED TO BE A LEGAL PATHWAY FOR THOSE THAT ARE HERE. PERIOD.

    ReplyDelete
  64. We are behind you Katie...just keep hitting f5 to refresh

    ReplyDelete
  65. Wow. Gotta hand it to Santorum. He's taking it to Newt.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I officially can't stand Santorum. Asshole. Have you met an Mexican ever in your life?

    ReplyDelete
  67. Rick takes it to Newt...Firsh hand knowledge

    ReplyDelete
  68. It's like Santorum has been holding that in for a long time.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Yup...biting his lip. Again, who is he going to endorse?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Newt can give as good as he gets. He wins on experience.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Yeah, Mitt lives in the real streets of Amercia....

    ReplyDelete
  72. Mitt puches Paul, the birthing suite

    ReplyDelete
  73. Now Mitt gets to sit back on watch the blood path. You gotta hand it to King. He's pitting them against each other.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Sad to say CNN is running a better debate than Fox

    ReplyDelete
  75. CNN is running a better debate than Fox.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Low blow Mitt on Reagan's book and mentions of Newt. That's the dumbass kind of comments that make me dislike Mitt.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Mitt hits Newt, and landed the blow

    ReplyDelete
  78. What question are you guys on?

    ReplyDelete
  79. Paul is embarrased by his W2 size, man is he a loon

    ReplyDelete
  80. Oh yea, Paul. You're so damn poor. Bite me.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I've decided I'm my own political party.

    ReplyDelete
  82. HAHAHAHA on Paul comments :)When Romney has to defend BASIC ideas of the party he's IN.TROUBLE!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Rick's answer on tax returns is folksy....and stupid

    ReplyDelete
  84. Romney gets booed...this tax return thing is getting dumb

    ReplyDelete
  85. Yea. Santorum you're so damn poor too. They can all bite me. Romney is getting killed on this tax records thing. John King brings in George Romney. Wow! Chutzpah!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Just wait, the "Life" conversation is getting so dumb too. I officially hate Santorum.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Katie is way ahead...looking forward to getting to her topics.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Santorum doesn't look presidential. He looks tired and pissed. Or maybe it's frustrated. I won Iowa damn it - give me some respect!

    ReplyDelete
  89. I think he looks alright...not as impressive, smaller than the others...but not tiny

    ReplyDelete
  90. Santorum is getting a lot of air time. Rick vs. Mitt. Rick vs. Newt. Rick has long answers.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I don't think Paul's people are as vocal tonight - a good sign.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Paul is crazy...man LEAVE THE RACE, RETURN TO THE MOTEHRSHIP.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Santorum is getting worse. Really, a cocky, brat. Santorum is trying to tell everyone what they thing and how they voted. Shut up! Paul ZINGS his brattiness.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Back to Santorum. What is he? The frontrunner?

    ReplyDelete
  95. I agree. Paul can cause a lot of problems going forward. I'm starting to hate him.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Really? A SOPA question? Duh!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Newt's not even listening to Paul!! hahahaha

    ReplyDelete
  98. I don't fear him anymore....most his voters are loons or Dems keeping him afloat

    ReplyDelete
  99. So, George Stephonopolus-like, King keeps pressing the point. Move on.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I think King is keeping it lively, massaging the topics yes, but not bad

    ReplyDelete
  101. Santorum is in the weeds on the SOPA thing. MOVE ON.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Mitt makes a funny, 25 more votes in Iowa....dumb question though. A do over????

    ReplyDelete
  103. Paul - Who cares.

Newt - Needs to go on a diet.

Romney - Pathetic ending. Pathetic. Blah, Blah, Blah - tell us something NEW and INSPIRING. He's so uninspiring.

Santorum - Brat who needs spanked. You are not as good as you think.

    ReplyDelete
  104. RIck is right, wouldn't change a thing....good answer to a dumb quesion

    ReplyDelete
  105. Katie...just got the immigration problem...you gotta stay in for this...Good wrap up on Roomney, he is unispiring

    ReplyDelete
  106. What do you think of Newt's 25 year plan

    ReplyDelete
  107. You can't send people who have been here 25 years back the hell to Mexico. It must be clear, not complicated, fair so people are not SCARED.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I agree with Newt until his plan of "citizen boards" A good theory that will not work in reality

    ReplyDelete
  109. Yes, agree, citizen boards will not work.

    ReplyDelete
  110. What about people who have been here 15 years? 10 years?

    ReplyDelete
  111. Depends. Are you 18 now and were drug over here by your parents as a child? Are we going to deport them? To where?

    ReplyDelete
  112. At least Newt has a plan! Romney doesn't really have a plan. Citizen boards might not work, but Newt is on the right track.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Newt is recognizing the complicated situation of immigrants who have been here long-term. Romney is not. Bush had the right idea - worker visas for those who have been here long-term.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Agree Ma, he has a plan. The citizen board is majorly flawed. This is the one topic where all answer/solutions are fuzzy and riddled with holes.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Yea, Santorum is sounding like a heartless schmuck. Newt has an in depth answer to a complicated question. Romney and Santorum have sound bites. Newt sounds like he has a heart.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Yes, mom, yes! I personally think Santorum has no personal experience with anyone outside of his race. I mean he's not Hitler BUT....

    ReplyDelete
  117. Yes Mom, that's it. Santorum sounds heartless, again due to lack of depth/experience with OTHERS

    ReplyDelete
  118. I am so damn sick of Romney's answer about LEGAL immigration vs. ILLEGAL. That tells us nothing and he's said it a million times. He better get a better answer than that.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Your view of Santorum is skewed Katie...He is 3rd out of the 4, but not God awful

    ReplyDelete
  120. Terry, some would say he's 4 out of 4. I am harsh on him. I agree.

    ReplyDelete
  121. This is an issue where Newt shines. He at least has a PLAN. He knows how to put forth a plan. You might be able to shoot some holes in it, but at least he has more than sound bites.

    ReplyDelete
  122. You make him soundlike a 1950s redneck who want to hunt down and string up the Mexicans. He is a kid brother who does not have a good plan on immigration

    ReplyDelete
  123. Katie doesn't like Santorum on the social issues.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Yes, Rick and Mitt are sound bites and punting...Newt has a plan, needs work but it is a plan

    ReplyDelete
  125. Mitt ends with "Thank you" again...brutal

    ReplyDelete
  126. 89 debates and you still end with that crap!

    ReplyDelete
  127. I truely believe Newt and Rick are 100 percent pro life....Mitt, eh 80 percent. "I did my best to be a pro life governer."

    ReplyDelete
  128. WOW...I hate Paul but I cannot believe King skipped him on the pro life thing

    ReplyDelete
  129. I hate how Mitt stands there and grins while Newt is talking. So disingenuous. I don't like him. He is in the weeds again. He has poor answers on the subject of abortion. Don't know how much of an issue it will be in the national election, however. Probably not much.Newt differs to Rick. Nice move. Shows he's in charge. Plus, let Rick take Mitt on. Nice move. checkmate.

    ReplyDelete
  130. My previous conclusion in this comment section still stands.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Yes, Newt's differal was saavy.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Mom, you honestly think I noticed the "misstake."

    ReplyDelete
  133. Know, Katie. I didn't think you wood notise.

    ReplyDelete
  134. "Law will not correct the morality of the people." Best line Paul has ever delivered.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Yes, I also agree that was a great Paul line.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Santorum is not looking good tonight overall. He just isn't. Paul got him on the oversensitivity. Wow!

    ReplyDelete
  137. He's also right on states right vis a vis roe v. wade. Okay, I'm impressed with all that.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Yup, Rick takes everything personally and grits his teeth...never really would have noticed if Katie hadn't pointed it out in the best post ever

    ReplyDelete
  139. Debate over, going wrap up in a seperate post

    ReplyDelete
  140. Told you Katie. Your posts are genius. Paul is right in his closing. Where were the questions on the debt? If we don't solve that, everything else is moot.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Yea, Mitt just started his closing and I'm yawning. He couldn't inspire me to eat chocolate.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Oh my gosh. Romney plagiargizes Reagan. I hope he gets spanked on Saturday.

    ReplyDelete
  143. I'm out, check the blog for my wrap up.
